A diamond edge is typical of a Moroccan mosaic table. In addition to the decorative function, it also has a symbolic function: as stylized eyes (witch eyes), square diamonds are supposed to protect people from any kind of harm. The mosaic setters place a wide variety of patterns and ornaments into this frame. However, one thing is always the same: the glazed mosaic pieces are previously carved from the handcrafted Zellige tiles with a sharp-edged hammer. Each table top is purely handcrafted and therefore absolutely unique.
With the Ankabut bistro table, the joints between the individual mosaic pieces are clearly visible. This is definitely intentional, because the craftsmen had the artfully woven web of a spider (Ankabut) in mind when designing it. If you consider the color symbolism of Islam, this mosaic table could be modeled on a mosque floor: green is the color of religion, white that of purity. Choose this table if you want to add a subtle touch of the Orient to your garden. The bicolor look can be easily combined with practically all colors.
